Contribute to KFMG 99.1

At the top of each hour we say: "KFMG is a 'listener-supported' service of The Des Moines Community Radio Foundation." That means that a significant portion of our revenues comes from people just like you. People who listen to KFMG and love what we do. Our absence from January through June of 2010 shows just how important that revenue is. Please consider helping KFMG to continue as "Your Community Voice" by providing financial assistance. You can easily do so by making a contribution with a credit card through our supporters at Red Truck Tickets. They are donating their services to us and are not taking any compensation from your contribution (other than passing through the credit card companies' processing fees). To donate using a credit card, please visit the Red Truck Tickets Contribution page.

You may also send a donation in the form of cash, check or money order directly to KFMG at the address on the Contact Us page.

Thank you very much for your support.

Mike's Mango Music
Posted in Station News
If you have ever been into Flying Mango, you know that they not only serve the best Caribbean BBQ in the world, they serve up some great music. Many Des Moiniacs first heard of incredible new artists like Eric Lindell, Sharon Little, Hamilton Loomis, Jonah Smith, Jon Justice and others at their appearances at Flying Mango.

The genius behind the music and the food is Mike, and now, every Friday at noon, Mike steps out of the smoker, grabs his favorite new CDs, and takes over KFMG for two hours of great music on MANGO MUSIC.

Some people say that as a radio personality, Mike should not quit his day job. Still, as long as he brings the sandwiches for the rest of us we won't deny the music. Be like Mike. Every Friday at noon Central.

One of our most popular features. Yeah, it's poetry, but this isn't about Bambi in the meadow by a babbling brook ... it's totally up in your grill. Confrontational, emotional, powerful, and boy, does it ever make you think. This is GREAT stuff.

KFMG PLEDGE DRIVE
Posted in Station News
A note to KFMG listeners and supporters:

It would appear that the national economic troubles have finally caught up with KFMG. Our results from this year’s Fall Pledge Drive were significantly lower than either of the past two years. Since we know we have more listeners, we can only assume that the difficult economy is a major factor.

So we’re going to continue our Fall Pledge Drive (in a somewhat more low-key manner) for the foreseeable future. We’ve adjusted some of the contribution levels for the premiums provided to KFMG by our supporters in the business and non-profit communities—there are some real “bargains” there, especially considering that all of the money contributed directly supports Your Community Voice – KFMG 99.1 FM.

You may contribute via the link to Red Truck Tickets, on this page. They are donating their services, so all of your contribution will go to KFMG. You may also send your contribution directly to KFMG at:

KFMG
PO Box 41143
Des Moines, IA 50311

Or you may give us a call at the radio station at 515-244-4145 (leave a message with a good time for us to call you back, if you reach voice mail instead of a living human being).

If you make a donation via the website please send a separate email through the “contact us” link on the website with your premium request, if you wish to have a premium. If you are mailing us your contribution, please also include your premium selection (if any) with your donation.

We thank you VERY MUCH for your support of KFMG. We know that things are tough out there, and we appreciate anything you are able to share to help support Your Community Voice - 99.1 KFMG-LP.
